Volcanoes- the Positives and the Negatives

Since the begging of earth volcanoes have been erupting. Some are formed by subduction zones, like shield volcanoes others are formed by hotspots, like stratovolcanoes. When they erupt they can spew ash and lava, create landslides and pyroclastic flow. They can destroy nature, home's, villages. But they can also provide building materials that also help nature replenish.  They also supply farmers with fertilizer and create valuable opal and diamonds. I believe that volcanoes are more harmful than helpful. Even though people might argue that they supply people with jobs/supplies I believe its just not worth the risk and the cost of living near them. So if you don't live near them then they are of no use but just to destroy land. There have been cases of people who would not be pushed around by the volcanoes like this lady living near a volcano. The first time a volcano erupted near her she stayed there until the volcano was 200 ft. from her house. But it was burned down so she bought a new one next to it and that one was burned down in another eruption. If everyone did what she did it would cost a lot to rebuild everyones house and people might not make it out in time. In order to harvest a volcanoes good benefits you have to live near it and its just to costly in money and lives.
