Poems name: Best Friends
Poems Author: Kalli Dakos
Poetry is probably the best and most fun subject we have learned throughout our sixth grade year. I like it especially because its a way to express emotion. Poetry can also have meaning and show you grief, sorrow, excitement, happiness, and sometimes it can just make you laugh. My class and I were instructed to make an imovie for the poem we liked the best. The poem I chose is called Best Friends written by Kalli Dakos. I think Kalli Dakos wrote this poem extremely well with it’s portrayed emotion and how really sweet it is.
In the poem it talks about the differences between two best friends. This poem really spoke to me because it means to me that even though the two best friends are totally different they can still be best friends. For me that really spoke to me also because the author chose excellent word choice and using the word to compare two friends in different ways with ordinary objects or things. Each word fits perfectly and it rhymes a bit. The poem really makes you think about your friends and how this poem is basically telling you its ok to be different and even if your different does not mean you can’t be friends with someone. Through it it compares two friends in different ways with ordinary objects or things.
The mood is in the beginning just normal then at the end it just makes you go awww. For at the end it says “but were the best friends this school has ever seen.” So you see it as just a really sweet poem that has meaning when going through friend problems. Even if you are not its still a sweet poem that reminds you of your friends.
Once you read the poem you will see how Kalli Dakos made a sweet poem that compares differences between two friends. Kalli Dakos really knows how to hypnotize the reader through poetry. She constructs a very well written with meaning poem.
